As a former City of Heroes addict, I am unbelievably excited for Cryptic’s release of its new superhero MMO: Champions Online. It’s scheduled release date is set for September 1st (only a few weeks away!), and I’m sure I will quickly become addicted once again. In honor of it’s release I started up a “Superhero-A-Day project…and it’s basically an excuse to start using this brand new, never-used, watercolor set I just purchased. I have never used watercolor before or any type of paint, so this should be really fun and I hope to get more comfortable using them as I finish each drawing. I hope to make one drawing per day, some original, and some from photos. This one is of my favorite pose of Raven of Teen Titans.

It didn’t turn out as I expect, I learned a valuable lesson to never mix oil based markers with watercolors. Hopefully I progress with each drawing…I hope!

Well, I realized I haven’t been keeping up with my posting as much as I wanted to when I started this thing! Partially because this is my first blog and I’m really not sure of the direction I wanted to take here…I just know that a lot of designers use them. Why, I am not so sure…
But anyway, I’m going to try and make the effort to post more often, even if its just something I have been working on in my sketch book.

Mary over at the HOW Design Forum thought up a great idea to have everyone doodle their own trading cards and send them off to each other. It sounded like fun so I participated in this round. These are my handmade charcoal pencil cards. I had fun but towards the end when I was preparing to send them off I had a horrible fixative spray accident (I always end up spraying to much) and I lost a lot of deep blacks and whites. They ended up looking rather dull because of that. At least this was just supposed to be a fun project! I’ll have to do something more colorful next round…
Oh well, here are my doodles: Guinea pigs in costumes.

I usually attend Continue Education classes from The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts just for fun, but this semester I actually took a course for credit at Philadelphia Community College. The semester is over, and it was fun! I think these might be my best drawings to date. For summer’s class, I’m taking a Still Life painting course at PAFA and I’m really excited. Anyway, here are my semesters best charcoal drawings.

Hope everyone had a good Holiday.
I also wanted to post about this but didn’t get a chance to. I participate in the HOW Design Forum Secret Santa event every year and we usually keep it a secret as to who our gift recipient is until a certain date. I still don’t know who my “Santa” was but they did a great job! I love it and I just wanted to tell them thank you…below is a photo. Hopefully I will be finding out who my Secret Santa is soon.
In the picture…
White Chocolate Covered Pretzels (which were awesome)
Xmas Candy
A Princess Leia USB flash drive from Baseman!

This came complete with a new brand and stationary system. We are excited about it, but with the next run we are looking into a letterpress option for our business cards. See below for our current system:
